Mr. Tough Guy

Today, I was like a super hero! Let me begin by saying that today, I joined the ranks of the bonafide BIG boys. It all begin with a seemingly innocent "appointment" that I had this morning. Mommy didn't elaborate much when I questioned her why I had an appointment, or what was an appointment. She just kept saying, "Oh, you just have an appointment." Let me give you a little piece of wisdom I learned today... when someone is being evasive, be suspicious!

After we arrived at the place for the "appointment," I was waiting in the office, playing my Gameboy, and pretty much not paying any attention to all the talking Mommy was doing with the receptionist.

Finally, I was called by the nurse from the waiting room to the back... and I heard something terrible... I was getting SHOTS!!! Are you kidding me? I told the nurse that I didn't want any shots! I got nervous... I got scared... my eyes started to well up with tears. But then Mommy explained to me that I had to get these shots so that I could start Kindergarten. Wasn't it enough that I know all my letters and can count to 100... I have to get shots, too? Well, Mommy calmed me down, and we talked about all the other kids that had to also get shots, so I didn't feel so alone. It's the Kindergarten rite of passage.

But, wait until you hear this... I didn't cry during the shots... not a single tear! I didn't even flinch! I looked that needle straight in the eye, and said, "Bring it on!" The nurse couldn't believe it! She called me the bravest boy she'd ever met! When the shots were done, all four of them, I said, "That didn't even hurt!"

This was the TB shot. It made a little bubble on my arm.
After the doctor's office, we went to Chuck E. Cheese's, where everyone congratulated me on being such a brave boy. They even gave me extra tokens! I wonder how many shots I need to get into Harvard?
