artsy fartsy Charlie

Not only do I create art, but I also appreciate art. On Sunday, we went to an art show.

What? No wine and cheese? What kind of art show is this???

I thought I saw a Rauschenberg over here...

Irisa, this is called a still life. See how the artist has captured the essence of the flowers? It is so realistic you can almost smell the flowers.

Irisa, this is called a portrait. Notice how the artist uses fine lines to create depth and shadows...

Art by Charles Angelo

Charles Angelo is a modern post Renaissance artist. He is known for his use of many mediums and tools to create his beautiful, extraordinary, one-of-a-kind art work.

Here, Charles Angelo uses rubber balls and paint, and a swishing movement to create his marble painting.

Charles Angelo explores different textures to create this apple tree.

In his recycled art piece, Charles Angelo creates a flower vase from an old jar.

Exploring the concept of different tools, Charles Angelo creates this piece using an ordinary broom.

Charles Angelo is also a sculptor...

creating this little bear out of clay.

His greatest piece of art work is actually a collaborative piece in which all the artists shot paint balls...

on to this wall, creating this magnificent fresco! Move over Michaelangelo... here comes Charles Angelo!

Season Finale

Friday night was my last indoor soccer league game. We played the tough gray team. And I played incredible defense!

Coach A gave each of us a cool trophy!

It feels great to get a trophy. This is my third trophy!

Tonight, we played like champs! And, we had a lot of fun!

Spring Cleaning

We leave no stone unturned when it comes to spring cleaning...

That means Chica gets cleaned, too!

Chica said she wants a warm bath with lots of bubbles next time!

Cheerleaders!

On Monday night, I got dragged to Irisa's cheerleading performance. Not to be rude, but I wasn't much interested in seeing a bunch of two and three year olds jumping around, kicking up their legs, and shaking their butts!

But I WAS interested in seeing a bunch of ten to twelve year olds jumping around, kicking up their legs and shaking their butts! WOW... I could not believe my eyes! I never imagined that cheerleading could be so entertaining!

Gardens of the World

Today, Mommy, Daddy, Irisa and I went to the Gardens of the World. It's a gigantic garden with gardens from all over the world!

Before we visited the gardens, we had a picnic lunch.

Irisa and I had fun playing in this fancy water garden.

We went to the Japanese Garden first. It has a real pagoda set in a Koi pond, and is surrounded by bamboo trees and a waterfall.

I'm meditating by the pagoda.

This is Mission Courtyard. It has a center fountain and murals of the missions on the walls surrounding the courtyard.

This is the French Garden. It has parterres (one in the shape of a butterfly and the other in a shape of the sub) and mazes and lots of magnificent water features. The fountain here is like one of the fountains at Versailles.

Irisa is walking under a grape arbor that connects the English Garden to the Italian Garden.

The English Garden has lots of roses,

and mazes, where we had fun playing tag.

And, the best for last... the Italian Garden with this cool fountain and Venus di Milo at the top!
